Welcome to garychorneyart.com. I am a self-taught artist working with oil on canvass. I've been painting for over 40 years. Inspiration for my art is ever changing. It has been the music I love, artists such as Picasso and Juan Gris and the splendors of up-close blooms.
About
My paintings are reflective of what I am inspired by. Great musicians or thought-provoking abstracts and florals are favorite themes. My intention in general is to incorporate some realism while doing my interpretation of a subject.

From my earliest memories I loved drawing and painting. As a teenager one of my friends gave me his mother's discarded oil paints and brushes. I learned from books and videos, reading about the masters was a passion.
Painting became an important form of expression and part of who I am.
I moved to Vancouver in 1986. In Stanley Park, Painters Circle I was able to exchange ideas and learn from other artists. From the Painters Circle venue my paintings were purchased by customers worldwide. I am currently selling online only.
Shipping
This site is not currently set up to accept payments directly. However, I do have a PayPal account. When you contact me, we can discuss your preference in shipping and transaction. Shipping is only included in the listed price if I ship the painting rolled in a tube, I will do this at no additional cost. You would then have to take it to a framing shop to be put back on stretcher bars. If you prefer to have it shipped ready to hang, I will provide an estimate. I will deliver paintings ready to hang in the Vancouver lower mainland area at no additional cost. See contact information below.
